"A hair-raising emotional range that varies from cut-glass fragility to cat-o'-nine-tails avenger" - LA Times
Due to Amy Studt's admission to hospital, tonight's show has been postponed to Monday 13th September 2010. Existing tickets remain valid or a full refund can be obtained from the point of purchase. Our best wishes to Amy for a speedy recovery
Amy is currently stuck right into writing her album 3, collaborating with Toby Kidd from the band Hatcham Social, Sean McGee producer, and more.
Fresh back from her trip to Malta and straight into the arms of the acting world Amy is also starring in a series of short films, and up for parts in stage shows as well and keeping her head down in the studio.
A new DEMO is up on her MySpace www.myspace.com/amystudtofficial and she is planning a whole bunch of gigs at the end of the Summer as well as some leading up.
She will be selling handmade merchandise and T-Shirts as well as her first album "False Smiles" and her second "My paper made men" and she will be there to chat and sign whatever you push her way! Ooh!
Here's some nice words other people have written about Amy:
"... she's ablaze: pungent songwriting and vocal range from sweat-drenched sensuality to icebox isolation, Studt looks at herself, men, women, relationships, sees it all and says it all with fragile, savage precision. Rude double-entendres and ruthless memorability of tune make you want to take that rough ride with her again and again." - Mojo
"Musically it should keep Kate Bush fans happy, Sad Sad World would sit well on a PJ Harvey album and She Walks Beautiful echoes soul-searching female singers from Fiona Apple to Tori Amos." - Sunday Times
"Amy Studts' first new music in four years possesses a wilting understated charm that strikes an emotional impact." - Music Week
"Positively incandescent torch-singing Londoner with a hair-raising emotional range that varies from cut-glass fragility to cat-o'-nine-tails avenger." - LA Times

Full of folk promise with tales of journeys into the sub conscience myriad of heartbreak
A man who wears his heart on his sleeves. Full of folk promise with tales of journeys into the sub conscience myriad of heartbreak.
Sweet laments with a smattering of regret, forgiveness wrapped up in the beauty of that first kiss!
A singer song writer made under the grinding sounds of a combine harvester, thrown and dispatched into the city and wrung out with nothing more than a woollen sweater, a bit of denim, and a good stout pair of green flashes for his tyres.
South meets West, the tambourine meets coffee shop, guitar and where the xylophone takes on the might of the shoe gazers. Long live the city, long live the apple tree.

"With references to Dusty via Duffy, this budding singer is well worth keeping an ear on" - BBC Introducing
Dorset girl Jazz Morley possesses a voice with such natural soulfulness beyond her 21 years of age that it possibly comes as no surprise to learn that her first public performance was the first year infants nativity play!
Fast forward to the present day and we find a rich, warm, emotive voice capable of the tiniest whisper of love to the full vent of a woman scorned.
This year has seen her career blossom having supported Kate Walsh, Chesney Hawkes and Ben Montague.
And a short-listing to the finals of the Shure Songwriting Award 2010, judged by Paloma Faith, has opened up song-writing opportunities with several Top 40 credited artists and one Grammy Award winner no less.
But despite this attention, Jazz eschews the beckoning bright city lights and fast cars.
She's a girl you're more likely to find padding about bare foot on the beach, walking through puddles in wellies or driving Barry (her battered but beloved van) to the next gig.
Here are some nice things other people have written about Jazz:
"With references to Dusty via Duffy, this budding singer is well worth keeping an ear on" - Phil Jackson, BBC Introducing:The South
"I was struck by the control of her voice... she's got really good pitch and control. What I thought was really lovely was that she really kissed the lyrics... it felt quite sensuous." - Briggy Smale
"A great talent with a voice that reminds me of Eva Cassidy."- Andy Jackson, Wave 105 FM

Featured in BBC Introducing Best of 2009 and recent national tour supports to Example and N-Dubz
When Radio 1's Big Weekend came to Swindon in 2009 there was one local band on everyone's lips.
Beatbullyz have built up a large following in their hometown, consistently selling out 700 capacity venues.
Huw Stephens started to play them on Radio 1 in the run up to the Big Weekend, which saw the Introducing tent packed out for a mass singalong.
They later recording a BBC Introducing session for Radio 1 and were one of six artists included in BBC Introducing's Best of 2009 feature.
The band had previously taken their energetic live show to the likes of Austria's Snowbombing festival, Rotterdam's Heineken Street Parade and even Channel 4's Hollyoaks on which they performed their track 'Keys To Life' after being tipped as one of the best new live bands around by T4.
In 2009 they were main support on Example's UK tour and in 2010 they supported N-Dubz on their nationwide tour.
They are currently working on their debut album with Jim Eliot of Kish Mauve (Ladyhawke, Kylie Minogue) and Chris Baker of Mint Royale.
Review from Salvo Magazine:
"In a world of genetically-modified clone bands, singing haircuts and serious scenesters, thankfully we're seeing a renaissance of live urban music. It's all about energy, enjoyment, upliftment and realness, taking the funk back to the floor and causing outbreaks of expressive emotion and demented dancing (don't be scared now kids).
"Beatbullyz are busting out of the gates of town, causing stampedes to the dancefloor and locking horns with audiences across the UK and Europe with their high energy fusion of hip hop, street soul, upbeat funk and urban attitude.
"While the sound is seriously slick with Disco on live drums, Philonious Funk cutting and scratching, plus Bozo bustin' the lyrical consciousness packed with party-starting prowess and empowering positivity. The Beatbullyz live experience is only complete with the anthemic choruses of frontman Bully, once of Diesel-U-Music award winners Nebulae. This fresh-faced soul boy has a voice to make the girls feel fluffy, with a directness and harmonic power that will stop you in your tracks and have you belting out hooks you've never even heard before. The quality of his song writing skills and optimistic, melodic sunny-day styles have to be heard to be believed, and if you're into sing-along urban-soul then insanely catchy tracks like 'Paranoid', 'Wham' and 'Rootz' are guaranteed to float your boat. Let your soul fly high!"

Twice winners of BBC Radio 2 Folk Award (Best Duo); "the finest instrumental duo on the scene" - The Guardian
Jon Boden - winner of the Folk Singer of the Year at the BBC Folk Awards 2010
Described by The Guardian as "the finest instrumental duo on the traditional scene" and twice winners of the BBC Radio 2 folk award for Best Duo, Spiers and Boden have made the genre of spontaneous, punky English folk very much their own stomping ground.
Loud, proud, and with just a few acoustic instruments, they create a multitude of textures upon which they present traditional stories and dance music which have taken them on to the main stages of major festivals.
The irrepressible performances of John Spiers and Jon Boden have ensured they are in high demand with venues and major festivals through out the world and past performances have included, in the UK, Cambridge Folk Festival, WOMAD and Larmer Tree Festival and abroad have included Roskilde Festival (Denmark), Nordsjofestivalen (Norway) and Namest Nad Oslavou (Czech Republic).
Their fifth album, Vagabond, was released on Navigator May 26th 2008. The eleven tracks on the album focus on the role of the itinerant and outsider, a theme prominent in traditional material, from 'Robin Hood' to the 'Beggar Boy'.
Winners of the Best Duo category at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards in both 2004 and 2006, and a Critic's choice nomination at the BBC World Music Awards, and nominees for the same award in 2009, John & Jon are also founding members of the wildly ambitious eleven piece big-band folk phenomenon, Bellowhead (BBC Folk Awards for Best Live Act in 2005, 2007, 2008, Observer Top 20 albums of 2007).
They are currently Artist in Residence at London's Southbank as part of Bellowhead, an appointment which has led to a series of performances on The Southbank including a sold out show by Bellowhead to over 1,000 people in the Royal Festival Hall Ballroom in December 2007.
They have also enjoyed a long-term collaboration with Eliza Carthy as The Rat Catchers and performed on her Nationwide Mercury Prize nominated album Anglicana.
Jon Boden (singer, fiddle, guitar, stomp-box) follows in the footsteps of many of the great folk-singers with his theatrical style.
Born in 1977 in Chicago, he grew up in Winchester and graduated in Medieval Studies from Durham and Composition for Theatre from the London College of Music.
As well as forming half of Spiers & Boden and singing lead vocals in Bellowhead, Jon has also found time to release his own, self-penned album of contemporary indie rock songs, 'Painted Lady'.
John Spiers (melodeon, concertina) was born in Birmingham and grew up in Abingdon (home to one of the few truly traditional morris sides) with a morris dancing father.
He has a Masters degree in Natural Sciences from King's College Cambridge and has carved his own space in the folk scene with his unique blending of traditional squeezebox styles with his knowledge of contemporary dance music to create an infectious acoustic groove which provides the infectious rhythm of Spiers & Boden.
Here's some nice words other people have written about Spiers and Boden:
"Anyone who needs convincing that the current folk revival is becoming as intriguing, varied and experimental as it was back in the 1960s should check out the remarkable career of John Spiers and Jon Boden. In just a few years, they have established themselves as the finest instrumental duo on the traditional scene, and the contemporary equivalent of Martin Carthy and Dave Swarbrick..." - The Guardian
"Technically they stand head to head with the best of their generation... Jon Boden plays fiddle with an earthy vigour that's utterly compelling and sings in a frantic breathless manner as if the hounds of hell are taking lumps out of his backside, while John Spiers harmonises and plays urgent driving melodeon to a very high standard indeed...halfway to reinventing the style without even realising it..." - fRoots Magazine

Comparisons to a punkier version of Elvis Costello and regular references to The Eels and Talking Heads
Philadelphia Grand Jury has always been two friends: Berkfinger and MC Bad Genius. Previously knowing each other for some 20 years Berkfinger hadn't seen Bad Genius for going on 6 years when one day the curious bearded fellow just strolled into one of his solo shows with a bass and plugged himself right back into the singer's life.
These two childhood buddies since had a rotating ensemble of drummers - until recently. Joining Berkfinger and MC Bad Genius is 54 year-old African American drummer Calvin, who used to session drum for US disco and funk acts like Earth Wind and Fire and bebop legend Sonny Stitt. Together they are a self-funded, self-produced, self-engineered, self-released, stage-destroying independent punk soul machine.
Recorded by band lead and producer Berkfinger (who has also worked on records for Wolfmother, The Temper Trap, Art vs Science and others) the band's recorded output displays the engrained Do-It-Yourself nature of Philadelphia Grand Jury at its best with comparisons to a punkier version of Elvis Costello and regular references to The Eels and Talking Heads.
The Philly Jays (as their fans affectionately refer to them) are exciting to watch and critics have lauded them as "a band you must see before you die". Literally explosive on stage their only secret is to write great songs and play them like it's their last show ever. Every. Single. Time.

"All attitude, radiating confidence, striking poses and delivering high quality, driven, eccentric pop" - Artrocker
Doll and The Kicks are now in their fourth year and, after recently self-releasing their debut self-titled album, they have had their busiest year yet. 2009 has seen the band supporting Morrissey on his World tour, playing at venues such as Brixton Academy and The Royal Albert Hall.
They also travelled to America with Morrissey and have since revisited the States to play another successful tour and to perform at SXSW festival.
Somehow in amongst all this the band have managed to fit headline UK tours of their own to promote their debut album which has sold around 6000 copies.
Still an unsigned band, Doll and The Kicks are rapidly making a name for themselves around the UK and further for being not just a great live act but also having the business sense and hard work ethic needed to survive in the modern music industry.
Expect an EP of new material later in 2010 to support their UK and European tour.
Media enthusiasm has grown with coverage from MTV One, BBC Radio 2, BBC 6 Music, Sub TV, Channel M, BBC Southern Counties, Kerrang Radio, The Fly, The Brighton Guide, London Lite, Total Guitar and Artrocker.
The band were chosen as MSN's Unsigned Band of the Month in November 2008. They have also been featured in the January 2009 MySpace newsletter as one of the Top 10 New Bands for 2009, alongside Lady Gaga and Florence and the Machine.
Doll and The Kicks formed in 2005 while living in Brighton and frequenting the same drinking holes. They were first singled out from the Brighton music scene when they were invited by BBC Southern Counties to perform at the BBC Introducing stage at Glastonbury 2007.
Doll and the Kicks spent 2008 tirelessly touring the UK and Europe and appearing at events including The Great Escape, Beachdown Festival and Brighton Live, as well as supporting established artists, including Gabriela Cilmi and Das Pop.
Here are some nice words other people have written about Doll and The Kicks:
"DATK are all attitude; radiating confidence, striking poses and delivering high quality, driven, eccentric pop. Singer Doll's voice is a perfectly spotless hybrid of Kate Bush and Gwen Stefani. Her energy is frantic yet focused and she works the crowd like a pro." - Artrocker
"Doll and The Kicks pull off some damn hard sugary rock that scratches like it's the biggest bitch in the playground." - The Source
"Full on feisty versatile firecracker of a band Doll and the Kicks confirmed to all and sundry that heavy can also be melodic, varied and fun. With bold time changes and glorious melodies Doll and the Kicks are never dull." - BBC Southern Counties
"Doll bounces around the stage with the look and energy of a young Blondie... with floor-filling dance tunes such as Just 16, Always Been Her and Disco Queen, the music easily matches the glamour the band projects." - Ents 24

"Staggering maturity... an abundance of natural talent. Irresistible... superior acoustic music" - Daily Telegraph
At the age of twenty-one, singer-songwriter Jenna already has a wealth of recording and touring experience behind her.
Seven years ago she co-wrote the haunting 'Seven Days' - one of the highlights of 'Show of Hands' 'Country Life' CD.
Then with Steve Knightley and Mercury prize nominee, Seth Lakeman, she recorded 'Western Approaches'. This led to a successful nationwide tour in 2004.
In 2007 she appeared at The Royal Albert Hall as a special guest for a sell-out Show of Hands concert.
In the same year, Jenna recorded her debut solo album 'Barefoot and Eager'. A 10 track album produced by Steve Knightley and recorded by Phil Beer. It was listed in the top ten acoustic albums of 2007 in the Financial Times.
She has toured this album on three nationwide tours supporting Steve Knightley and has another one coming up in 2010.
On this tour she will be releasing her new album 'Brother' which has been produced by Steve Knightley and Mark Tucker.
Jenna has supported a number of well-known musicians including Martyn Joseph, Seth Lakeman, Phil Beer, Martin Simpson and Boo Hewerdine etc, and has recently been in the same line-up as The Noisettes.
Jenna's original songs are very much inspired by the sea, surf and landscape of her native North Devon and accompanying herself on piano and guitar, she possesses an astonishingly mature voice and stage presence.

Captivated audiences at the 2009 Cambridge Folk Festival, Shrewsbury Folk Festival and at Celtic Connections
Crooked Still is a self-styled alternative bluegrass band from Boston, USA. They are known for their high energy, technical skill, unusual instrumentation and innovative acoustic style.
They have captivated audiences in the UK at the 2009 Cambridge Folk Festival, the Shrewsbury Folk Festival, and at Celtic Connections.
This will be the opening gig on their Autumn 2010 tour of the UK, in the historic setting of St Peter's Church in The Square Petersfield.
Support will be by Emily Barker and Jazz Morley. Not to be missed
Here's some nice words other people have written about Crooked Still:
"Aoife O'Donovan's expressive vocals are but a part of the composite that forms when this quintet purrs along on all cylinders. Joined by bassist Corey DiMario, banjo player Greg Liszt, cellist Tristan Clarridge, and fiddler Brittany Haas, the finger picking and bow-playing layers add depth and balance that makes even the saddest moments full and emotive. To put it bluntly, these people are amazing." - www.blogcritics.org
"These experimental traditionalists live up to their name. They're still connected to the folk past, yet they are gloriously crooked. And as affecting as whiskey... a triumphant show." - The Boston Herald

"Full of vibrancy and blossoming with an abundance of talent and passion, music for the soul..." - Maverick
In 2003, Emily Maguire got off a plane in Australia with a bag on her back, a bunch of songs in her head, and 3 weeks to work out what to do with the rest of her life. When the time came to leave, she cancelled her ticket back to London. Aussie producer Christian Dunham had persuaded her not give up her guitar for a proper job but to stay and make a record. What was supposed to be a short holiday on the Sunshine Coast turned into a whole new way of life - living on a farm, writing and recording songs, growing veggies, making goats cheese, collecting rainwater and dodging snakes and spiders in a beautiful shack made from recycled wood, tin and potato sacks.
Classically trained on piano, cello, recorder and flute, Emily was taught to read music when she was only 3 years old. By the time she was 12, she seemed destined to be a professional cellist, playing in competitions, attending chamber music courses, and taking a masterclass with the world-famous cellist Paul Tortelier. Growing up with no TV and only classical music in the house, Emily was quite happy reading books and playing Bach... until she discovered Bob Marley.
Given a guitar for her 21st birthday, Emily taught herself to play from his 'Legend' songbook and when a friend suggested she write her own song, she had a revelation. Always passionate about poetry, song writing perfectly combined her love of words and music. By the time she left London for Australia, she'd written hundreds of songs in her bedroom, but despite all the classical music she'd performed as a child, she was terrified of singing her own songs in public. Over the next few years, Emily had to overcome her stage phobia, as well as her snake phobia
In 2004, she recorded her first album 'Stranger Place' over 14 days and nights in an old farmhouse in the middle of a forest in Queensland. Critically acclaimed by the Australian media, the album's opening track 'The Real World' got Emily an invite to The Borderline Singer-Songwriter Festival in London, where she opened for David Bowie's bassist Gail Ann Dorsey Two years later, fresh from another tour of the UK, Emily and Christian returned to Australia to record her second album 'Keep Walking'. By this time, Emily had gone from cellist to cheese-maker, and they financed 'Keep Walking' by making and selling organic goats cheese produced on the farm.
In 2007 she returned to the UK to play the Cambridge Folk Festival and do a 3-month tour of pubs and clubs before heading back to life on the farm. But fate had other plans in store. A fan who had seen her at Bournemouth Folk Club sent her CD to the producer of Aled Jones' Radio 2 show 'Good Morning Sunday'. One of the songs from 'Keep Walking' was played on the show and, as luck would have it, The Waterboys' manager was listening. A week before she was due to fly back to Australia, Emily got a phone call from him asking if she would be prepared to cancel her ticket and fly instead to Ireland to start a 16-date tour with American legend Don McLean.
From playing to 20 people in a church hall in Bishop's Stortford, Emily found herself on stage at the biggest concert halls in the country, including St David's Hall in Cardiff, the Symphony Hall in Birmingham, the Philharmonic Hall in Liverpool, and Bridgwater Hall in Manchester, culminating in a sold-out show at the Royal Albert Hall in London. She credits hypnosis and brandy for helping her overcome her stage-fright.
Over the next 18 months, Emily opened for Paul Brady at the Royal Festival Hall, toured the UK and Ireland with Eric Bibb, played the Acoustic Stage at Glastonbury, opened for The Blue Nile at Somerset House, Galway Arts Festival and Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, headlined at Bush Hall, and toured with Glenn Tilbrook. The single 'Keep Walking' was playlisted on Radio 2 in the UK and on ABC Radio across Australia. In December 2008, straight from a tour with Roddy Frame, she went into Kore Studios in London with producer Philip Tennant to record her third album 'Believer'. The album features Geoff Dugmore on drums, Christian Dunham on bass, Luke Potashnick on guitar, and Jae Yoo on violin.
Emily puts her classical training and cello-playing to good use, writing and recording all the string arrangements for all her albums. On her MySpace page she cites Bach, Bob Marley and Buddha as her influences. A practising Buddhist for over 10 years, both 'Stranger Place' and 'Keep Walking' are dedicated to her teacher Lama Jampa Thaye.
Here's some nice words other people have written about Emily:
"Full of vibrancy and blossoming with an abundance of talent and passion, music for the soul..." - Maverick
"A relatively new voice to get excited over, Australia-based English singer-songwriter Emily Maguire has already impressed enough to have been invited to support Eric Bibb, The Blue Nile, Paul Brady and Don McLean. Believer is her third album, the follow-up to 2006’s Keep Walking, which helped establish Maguire as a talent to be reckoned with." - Rock 'n' Reel
"The third and most accomplished album so far from this unusual singer-songwriter mixes a suitably breathy vocal approach with several styles. Ballads such as Wanting Time are truly lovely, but it's the likes of I'd Rather Be that'll have Sheryl Crow nodding sagely into her Tia Maria and Lucozade." - Guitarist Magazine
"A series of live shows opening for such smart tunesmiths as Glenn Tilbrook and Roddy Frame goes part of the way to explaining why Maguire's soft-focus folk pop is more worthy of attention than many in the crowded female singer-songwriter field. The voice boasts the eloquent diction of old hands like Sandy Denny or Judy Collins, but there's a modern urban savvy and bite to 'I'd Rather Be' and 'Brave New World'. Classically trained on piano and cello, Maguire puts her schooling to good use on the opulent title track and the exquisite 'Lighthouse Man'. - Uncut
