Acoustix ft The Crosstown Trio

Date: 23rd July 2014

Get an acoustic fix of original material from some of the area’s developing artists and accomplished performers.

Farnham based band The Crosstown Trio, were brought together through a passion for Blues, Folk and roots music.

The trio enjoy integrating jazz, funk and Mediterranean style elements into their music-resulting in a warm tonality and moving rhythms that vary from shuffles to swings to offbeat reggae grooves.

Occasionally exotic instruments make an appearance on stage, but for the most part, the band use an acoustic guitar, full drum kit and double bass, layered with lead and smooth harmonizing vocals. Simple really.

28-year-old Tom Dibb was raised in Slough but now is situated in a VW T25 Camper Van somewhere in the UK, working with Insomnia music group to develop himself as a songwriter and artist.

For the past year and a half he’s been touring up and down the country in his camper van playing VW/Music festivals, Café Nerro’s and taking the songs straight to the streets busking in towns and cities all over.

The music is an expression of his experiences, of people, situations, places, society, growth as an individual, and emotions felt and displayed as a result of it all.

Over the last few years, Abi Murray has performed as a backing vocalist for numerous artists, performing in established venues such as the IndigO2, toured for 9 months with the Jackson Live in Concert UK tour and been a session vocalist for numerous projects, including demo work for the likes of Duffy and Little Mix.

In 2012, Abi was honoured to be a part of the London Olympics Closing Ceremony, dancing alongside Darcey Bussell and The Royal Ballet.

As a project on the side, ABI also plays flute and bamboo flute for We Are Children (We Make Sound), a contemporary music ensemble.

Abi’s unique brand of pop/rock edged soul is as refreshing as it is energetic. Her music is full of lush harmony and coloured with infectious hooks that are both fun and moving in equal measure. From playing The Bedford Balham, supported by Ed Sheeran, to numerous headline gigs at Proud Camden, Abi’s already getting known as “the one to watch”.

After graduating from ICMP, London and receiving the “Best Student” award, she became the first winner of the Reverbnation Songwriting Competition 2013, a finalist for the Shure Audiojack Vocal Competition and continues to gig at top London venues including Floridita, Shepherds Bush Empire, The Alleycat and Ronnie Scott’s. Currently, Abi is working hard in the studio preparing her debut EP.

Joe Waller is a young singer songwriter who has only been gigging for the past 8 months.

Teaching himself how to play guitar two years ago, Joe quickly became accustomed to being on stage.

Joe’s raw lyrics and edgy acoustics produce a personal performance that is hard to come by.
